Mindre risiko for handikap ved tidlig MS-behandling
København den 30. oktober 2007 – Der er en tydelig sammenhæng mellem sygdomsgraden tidligt i MS-forløbet og den kognitive formåen på et senere stadie (for eksempel koncentrationsevne og hukommelse), viser et helt nyt studie. Jo mere skade sygdommen har kunnet afstedkomme, inden behandlingen iværksættes, desto større risiko er der for både neurologiske skader og kognitive handikap senere i forløbet. Derfor er det vigtigt at begynde behandlingen med effektive immunmodulerende lægemidler tidligt.

Ny behandling til danske leverkræftpatienter
EU-kommissionen gav i dag tilladelse til markedsføring af det nye kræftlægemiddel Nexavar i Europa til behandling leverkræftpatienter. Nexavar er det første og eneste godkendte lægemiddel til behandling af leverkræft. Lægemidlet giver en signifikant forbedring af overlevelse på 44 pct.

Bayer judged “Best in Class” globally for climate protection
For the third time in a row, Bayer has been included in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index, the first international climate protection index, with the classification “Best in Class”. This year, the Leverkusen-based group received this commendation as the only German company in its sector. Independent experts ranked the world’s 500 largest listed companies. This was announced by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) investor group in New York.

Bayer flyttar till Stockholm
Efter mer än 50 år i Göteborg flyttar Bayer sitt svenska huvudkontor i Göteborg till Solna. Bayer firade denna milsten i sin affärsutveckling i Sverige genom att idag inviga sitt nya kontor i Frösunda Port.

Bayer Continues on a Path of Growth
The Bayer Group continued its successful development in the second quarter of 2007. Sales grew by 22.0 percent to EUR 8,217 million (Q2 2006: EUR 6,736 million). Adjusted for currency and portfolio effects, sales rose by 5.4 percent. All three subgroups contributed to this growth, with business up 9.3 percent at Bayer HealthCare, 1.9 percent at Bayer CropScience and 6.3 percent at Bayer MaterialScience. "The Bayer Group had a very good second quarter in 2007, following the excellent start to the year," Bayer CEO Werner Wenning commented on Tuesday. At the same time he confirmed the improved full-year earnings forecast for the Group issued in June, according to which the EBITDA margin before special items in 2007 should exceed 20 percent in a full year for the first time.
